Is it possible to have a farm...?

Is is possible to have a successful farm in an area that is right near the beach? I was just wondering because there is a farm that I drive by every time that I go to the beach (its not on the beach but it is really close) And I'm wondering if that is possible? Can someone tell me if these farmers would be successful?

1. actually depending on what they supply there, it is possible, they could use the water for irrigation or the decent sun for planting
2. Why not? Many of the farms in New Zealand are coastal and are very successful at farming of all types.
