Are there any Real estate agent online?
Im a senior in high school and im thinking about it as a career. My dad works for a real estate agency as a property manager an I get to see what the work is like and I find it very appealing. All of the agents are successful and they make lets say above average income. It seems like the perfect career for me. I want to also become a broker after a few years. I was just wanting to know the type of classes Ill be taking and really how the job is from day to day. And what type of classes ill need to become a broker after a few years. Just any advice or anything will be helpful. If your not a Real estate agent or broker and never have been DON'T answer this.

- I am a Real Estate Broker in California. The is a lot of information on the state website at www.dre.ca.gov (DRE stands for Department of Real Esate). If you plan on going to a four-year college, then get your four-year degree. After obtaining your degree, you can take some of the core classes (such as Principles of Real Estate, etc.). The core classes are mentioned on the DRE website: Applicants for a real estate broker license examination must have successfully completed the following eight statutorily required college-level courses: Real Estate Practice; and Legal Aspects of Real Estate; and Real Estate Finance; and Real Estate Appraisal; and Real Estate Economics or Accounting; and Three* courses from the following list Real Estate Principles Business Law Property Management Escrow Real Estate Office Administration Mortgage Loan Brokering and Lending Advanced Legal Aspects of Real Estate Advanced Real Estate Finance Advanced Real Estate Appraisal Computer Applications in Real Estate Common Interest Developments *If both Real Estate Economics and Accounting are taken, only two courses from the above group are required. Now, if you have your four-year degree, you can take the above classes (take them online and you can finish it quickly). Then, you can use your degree to substitute for the 2 year experience needed as a salesperson. I am speaking from a broker's perspective since the salesperson is similar. But, I would suggest you get the broker's license. When you pass the broker's test, you will be licensed and can practice real estate in California. It is similar in many other states also. Real estate is a very general topic. I have a broker's license but I mainly use it for real estate investing and not to sell and list houses (which is typcially what agents do). For me, it is more enjoyable to be an investor. Those are one of many choices you have once you get licensed. Good Luck. JJ
