What is a good way to make betta fish happy or calmer?
My two bettas are a little stressed right now and I hate seeing them like that. How can I make them happy again? Don't worry I already checked the water! people! They are together because I am breeding them, but they have gotten stressed.

- Depending on the type of beta and the gender of each fish, you might need to keep them separated.
- Are they kinda close by each other? If so, try to move them away from each other for some peace.
- like stress coat or stress zyme something like that, it calms them and builds a slime coat for the fish which keeps them healthy, you can find the product at pets mart... also keep the water warm like 72-78 degrees i think. hope i helped!
- hon, betas attack each other;; they should have told you this @ the store you bought them from, unless you went in with the attitude "I know everything I need to know about fish";; separate tanks; separate places & they'll be very happy;; should do this right away if you want both of them to live...good luck!! a large glass bowl is fine until you can get to the store for another "fish"bowl...
- I hope they are not in the same tank. They should both have a 5+ gallon heated and filtered
- If the two Betta's are in the same tank then they might be stressed because they think that the other is a threat. I suggest putting them in two different aquariums or adding many plants to the tank. If the Betta's aren't getting enough food then that might be the reason btu I dought that because you are so concerned you posted it. Hope this helps. Good luck
- For Heaven's sake, don't tell me you have two Bettas in one tank! If you do, no wonder they are stressed! Two Bettas, no matter the gender, should be kept in separate tanks, or at least with a divider to keep them apart in one tank. Make a "screen" of sorts with tall real or silk (no plastic) plants along the divider so they can't see each other. Then give them a dose of a stress coat promoting product, and they should be fine. I suggest going to a book store or library asap and getting a book or two on Bettas, to learn all about them. They aren't like other fish.
- We do need a little more information than that you checked the water. What gender are they and where are they? Whether male or female, they should be in separate tanks because males go with NO other Betta(including female) and females go in groups of 3 or more only. Are their tanks at least 5 gallons each? What exactly did you check the water for? What is your idea of 'stressed'? A stressed Betta will demonstrate dark horizontal stripes. It is more common in females than males, and you may not be able to see it if your Betta is light colored or, obviously, cellophane. Vertical stripes in males can resemble stress as well. In females, it is fine and represents "horniness" or wanting to dominate. Clamped fins are also a sign of stress. If your Betta is not active and eating less he/she could be sick. Even if the water conditions are right. You'd probably have looked for Ich already, but shine a flashlight at your Betta and look for Velvet. Your two Betta could just be bored with their environment, also, or maybe they dislike it. If they are on a stand that has many vibrations like a dining room table or computer desk that could be the cause. If your Betta are next to each other, put something in between the tanks so they can not see each other. If they are not next to each other, put them next to each other.
