What are some tips on keeping indoor cats happy and energetic?
I have two cats, they are almost 3 years old. They have never been outside. How can I keep them happy and energetic? Thanks

- i have 4 cats. cats are just the kind of animal that want to lounge around. all i have to do to get my cats active is give them a empty cardboard box, things you wouldnt normally think of as toys. i also have a special cat leash to take them outside when they want to explore.
- I have 2, three year old indoor cats as well! :) The thing to remember is that when cats cant enjoy the outdoors they compensate with food, rambunctious behavior at odd times, and by looking to you for more affection. The first best thing to do is to get a cat food specially designed for indoor cats. The balance of the nutrients in this food helps their skin and coat as they shed differently from the consistent temperatures in your home. This food will also cut down on hair balls and manage weight as well as assisting in keeping up bone and muscle mass from lack of exercise. Nutro/Nutro Max is the best brand for this. The next thing is to get plenty of things to scratch at different inclines as they will definitely be scratching more and more as the years progress. I have one diagonal scratcher, on vertical and one completely horizontal. Also, make sure to give them at least 30 minutes of play time with you a day, and keep the windows open whenever possible. My cats still love to enjoy a nice breeze.
- play with them Alot inside and they will be happy and healthy! :))
- toys. toys & more toys. if you have the space and know how you can make a 'jungle gym' for them. just make ramps & bridges out of wood covered with carpet. you can take apart & put together to give them a 'new toy'
- I have 6 cats and they are inside cats you need to play with them give them the right food and drink alot of water.
- Some suggestions. Aluminum foil balls. A good indoor cat food. Lots of available water. A goldfish in strategic, safe place. Window mounted bird feeders. (it's like Food TV, for cats.)
