How do I know if I have a broken collarbone?

Okay, I got into an stupid accident the other day...I was running from a friend but I lost balance and ran shoulder-on right into the ground really hard on my right shoulder....few minutes after that, my arm became really sore and it made it hard for me to move my arm and shoulder around, right in the middle where the neck meets the shoulder. Its been 4 days and I noticed the difference between the left shoulder and the right...the left are normal and there are a huge hard-*** bump on the right shoulder. I wince in pain every time I try to drive my car when I turn the wheel to the left and I have hard time turning around in bed cuz it would set the pain alarm off..and I have hard time pushing stuff cuz when I do that I feel like something in my shoulder r moving around...its a weird feeling so I checked the pics on google on a broken collarbone...it looks like mine but the guy with broken collarbone in the pic r skinny so he shows more bone but Im muscular in the shoulder area so its less noticeable but noticeable enuff and its really bumpy and hard. What do you think? Ive never broken any bones before in my life so I dont kno what's it like.

  1. the pain is really really big so if you are able to type, drive, ppush, and all that and study youself at the same time i believe you do not have a broken collarbone, but go to the doctor to make sure?
  2. Sometimes you can dislocate it from the sternum. When this happens there will usually be a fluid collection that will form a bump. Its not an actual break. I have done this a couple of times and also have had a really bad break on my collar bone. There is really nothing the doctor can do for you but give you pain medicine. Collar bones also take a long time to heal since they do not get much blood flow. Good luck, and feel better soon!
  3. IF you have suspected that you have broken your collarbone, then you will need to go to the doctor or to the hospital and get some assistance with it. hope that this helps:)
