What is the most successful way to save money without spending it?

I have a hard time getting money put away for "rainy days" what do you find is the most successful way of putting money away and how much at a time?

I'm a HUGE spender and thats because I LOVE fashion. so my favorite shoes are jimmy choos and christian louboutins which are no less than $700 each pair and of course my handbags are outrageous. BUT those are the 2 things i love handbags and shoes. aside from that i try to save as much money as i can. i think that if you sit at home and realize what you love and spend money on like (clothes)you can say ok i'm going to buy 2 killer outfits per month and thats it. so from your paycheck take 40% and use that for bills, 30% savings (do not touch it) and 30% for miscalaneous things (food, clothes, alcohol, gas etc.) so you alsways should separate your money in 3 ways how i described. my father is a tax attorney with a bachelors in accounting so he's always giving me advice that i don't use lol but oh well i hope you take it :)
