- Fidel started the revolution. Che went along for the ride. Che did a stint as the head of state security after the revolution. He had a hole knocked in the side of his office and a window put in so he could watch the executions from the comfort of his office. Many of those killed during these years were simple farmers who resisted collectivization. Prisoners could check a bulletin board on the way to their trials to find out what the verdict was, usually death. Once when a mother came to Che's office to plead for her son's life, Che picked up the phone and ordered him to be brought out and shot immediately while she was there. You find that "sexy"?
