What is a FICTIONAL movie that's theme is ecology (like happy feet)?

Happy Feet is an example because it is about over fishing in antartica

Public Comments

  1. Wall-E, he cleans up the Earth after humans destroy it.
  2. Ferngully - The Last Rainforest
  3. The ant bully. its about humans and ants interaction between each other. hahaha, its really cute.
  4. The only film I know of set in Antarctica is John Carpenter's "The Thing" - A splendid film by all accounts but not directly about ecology. However, if you were to write an in-depth review on it you could relate it to ecology with how it relates to the potential and unseen destruction of all animal species ect... There are many ways it could be seen as "symbollic" of ecology. Especially if you need ideas for an English Lit. essay or some such thing as the more you reffer to possible hidden meanings and such malarkey the more points you get. I think.
  5. Ferngully- deforestation Princess Mononoke-nature threatened by humans and warfare (any Miyazaki films) Hoot- protecting owl habitat Over the Hedge The Simpsons Movie- pollution, EPA Godzilla, The Host (monster movies)- results of toxic waste or radiation Dreams by Akira Kurosawa The Happening Biodome - teens trapped in an ecosystem experiment Post-apocalyptic/effects of pollution, waste, overpopulation, etc.: Wall-E Idiocracy Soylent Green 12 Monkeys Waterworld
