Where can I get someone's marriage records?

I know there's tons of websites that offer marriage records but they usually include other info too and it's usually not cheap. I only need the marriage record. I don't want to pay for everything else. Does anyone know where I can just get someone's marriage record (preferably free)? Actually, i'm trying to figure out how 2 people are related or if they're married.

  1. You can usually search your states court dockets and it will show you divorce and marriage records for your state. For example i am in oklahoma so if i google oklahoma court dockets, i get their website and i can search by name and find any and all legal documents involving said person, including criminal records, marriage licenses, divorces ect.. its a useful tool. If you can tell me what state your in i can probably give you the website for legal court records in your state. My mother in law lives in missouri and she showed me their states website as well. EDIT: Also just to give an example of what you're looking for here is what my states court website looks like. http://www.oscn.net/applications/oscn/st… You can click on the link at the top of the website that says Court Dockets and then theres a search feature that lets you search by name and things like that.
  2. county court house but you have to have a good reason to get them
  3. You can go to the state court in the county in which the marriage papers were filed. They are a matter of public record. I'm sure they will charge you a small fee as well, but don't hold me to that. Each state is different on their fees. But, as long as you know what state & county the papers were filed, then you should be able to get the records.
  4. well if you are close to the court house where they were to have gotten married you can walk in and get a copy for a few dollars are call the court house and ask the fee and send them the money and they will send you a copy. it is public record.
