What do U think 'I'm not losing sleep over rising immigration numbers' says Home Secretary?

Home Secretary Alan Johnson today ruled out imposing a cap on immigrant numbers, saying he didn't 'lie awake at night' worrying about the population hitting 70million. Critics warn that current growth means the population will increase by nine million to hit the 70million mark by 2028, with 70 per cent of the increase caused by new arrivals. But Mr Johnson said he wouldn't bring in a cap because it would harm the economy. He said we should 'welcome' immigrants who came to live and work here, and that he was 'happy' to live in a multicultural society. He told the Home Affairs Committee: 'I do not lie awake at night worrying about a population of 70 million. 'I'm happy to live in a multicultural society. I'm happy to live in a society where we not only welcome those coming to live and work in this country, but also where we can go and live and work in other countries.' He said the argument that immigration had made a contribution to the economy was 'irrefutable'. But he added: 'The argument gets more difficult when you get in to hard economic Earlier this week campaign group Migrationwatch UK warned the balance of those settling in the country would have to be reduced to 50,000 from the current level of 237,000 every year. The Government's points-based system is likely to cut immigrant numbers by around 8 per cent to 217,000. Migrationwatch chairman Sir Andrew Green said today: 'This shows the Government are in denial about the effects of mass immigration that they are promoting, even encouraging. 'The minister should be having nightmares about the impact on our schools, hospitals, environment and quality of life as a result of another 10 million people in England in just 20 years. Instead he has just given up.' http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1199685/Im-losing-sleep-rising-immigration-numbers-says-Home-Secretary-Alan-Johnson-rules-imposing-cap.html

  1. He's afraid of being black-balled -- bringing more immigrants into the system will be more damning to our economy...if they can't find jobs, we all know Obama will come to their rescue on OUR dollar further leveraging the industrious.
  2. You'd probably have better luck asking this in the UK version of Answers. That said, our secretary of homeland security is a closet lesbian, and she isn't concerned about immigration either, legal or not.
  3. Sounds like there is not a world wide recession. If there was governments would be kicking people out as fast as they were arriving.
  4. Britain has been a settled heterogeneous country for at least 15 thousand years, not a new big country, mass immigration will eventually lead to civil war. it's stark, but look at history.
  5. and perhaps he would love to pay some bills right from his own pockets.....that is, paying for illegals' babies and education and medical, etc. like that is going to happen....and here we go, another case of the 'multiculturalism' and 'compassion' card at the expense of taxpayers! illegals ruining the country in the name of 'multiculturalism' and 'better for the economy'.
  6. I think you're missing the "UK" part in your little article!.....LMFAO!!!! Are you posting articles on here so fast, that you don't read through them.
