why do you think kelly clarkson's "all i ever wanted" hasn't maintained as strong album sales as anticipated?

my opinion is her weight. i've got nothing against it, and i think she looks good in any size, i think it's because the fact that she has put on weight and transformed from the once slimmer frame to a pudgier size. how would that affect album sales? well her new album is sort of like face-lift from her darker 'my december'. had she lost the weight, not only would we be talking about her music, but also magazines would be all over her weight loss and how 'good' she looks. i somewhat urks me to see her latest 2 vids where they've done such a great job disguising her weight with dark, baggier clothes (and she looks good in them), but the fact remains that she's still gained a lot of weight from when we once said her. perhaps if we had always seen her as this weight, it wouldn't be such a big deal. but the fact that she's been under the media microscope and showing this transformation hasn't really helped revamp her image for the album sales! and i really want her album to do well and sustain great numbers. so in summary, my point is: all i ever wanted was supposed to be a new look for kelly distant from her last album, BUT the fact that she has put on so much weight and hasn't done anything about it made it less successful than it could be. we know physical attractiveness in celebrities gains attention, and that attention = promotion = potentially more sales. but i really liked this album. just pissed off it isn't doing as great!

1. Yea, i agree it's not on it's top. Kelly Clarkson's weight however, will not affect the album sales but her weight will be topic to many people. People tend to discuss about how she has put on weight all these and that. I really love this album and i think it's great but it's definitely not the best which it's quite a shame. Maybe we will see something we like on the next album where she will be slimmer and with more new hits, that will be AWWW!
2. When all is said and done the album will end up selling 2mm+ worldwide. The album has sold about 600K in the US and another 225K+ in the rest of the world so far after 3 months of release. The album has staying power with at least 2 more singles to be released. It is confirmed that Already Gone will be the next single and then maybe If I Can't Have You. Plus Kelly has spent the spring playing radio shows (Wango Tango, Zootopia) and promoting the album around the world. She is laying the ground work for the big album push which is first a small tour of some Summer State Fairs (5000+ size seating venues) and then the big All I Ever Wanted Tour (which will probably be larger venues 8-10,000+). You can expect album sales to stay on the steady pace. The idea that her weight is slowing album sales is rubbish. Kelly is not on trashy magazines because she is not trashy. They have nothing bad to say about her because she actually knows how to have private life....don't go where the photographers are. Has she gained weight? YES. Does she shy away from the question? NO. Does she ever evade or avoid an interviewers question when they ask her anything about her life? NO. Therefore there is nothing salacious to write. Sure this could be a detriment to her album sales but I bet if you asked Beyonce or Britney they would be glad to sell 2-3 million copies of their albums and still have a personal life. As for the equation "physical attractiveness in celebrities gains attention, and that attention = promotion = potentially more sales" -- this is hogwash. I am going to make a statement here. Kelly Clarkson has celebrity. She is not a celebrity. She will tell you in interviews that she is a singer and a songwriter. To group her in with no talent reality stars and famous for nothing rich people is an insult to her. Actually in summary I would like to revise my opening number when all is said and done - All I Ever Wanted will have a final worldwide tally of 3,000,000 (November 2010).
