Was the idealised portrayal of 50s America in HAPPY DAYS realistic or wishful thinking ?

1. In our hearts it was how we all would have liked to be. That's why it remains dear to many people.
2. unrealistic....remember the show got axed because the writers had fonzie jumping a shark on his motorbike ! i loved it all the same, in fact i dont know anybody who did not watch it !
3. It was of the time,all white picket fences,married couple with 2.4 kids etc etc..... But if you look at it closer,it's a bit worrying that the Cunninghams would rent a room above their garage to a much older guy who hung about school kids and used the gents toilets in the local cafe as his 'office'.....:-)
