How does a Pentagon bomber go on to live a successful life?

How did Bill Ayers bomb the Pentagon and go on to be a successful professor with great influence among the far (oh so radically far) left, instead of getting the chair? And liberals, I'm not insinuating anything about Obama in this case (lower your weapons), I'm just baffled by this seemingly impossible predicament. Actually Paul Revere, a presidential pardon is a pretty good reason not to go to jail. And besides, the crimes don't add up.

1. Prosecutors failed to prove the charges in court, and Bill Ayers stopped trying to blow things up afterwards.
2. Great question and he is a close bro to Obama supposed commander in chief. Go figure.
3. He got off because of a suspicious example of prosecutorial misconduct pertaining to the wiretaps used to collect the evidence against him. The prosecutors may have been inept, they may have been framed, or they may have deliberately thrown the case.
4. it is baffling to everyone except the leftists in power and I feel they will take the secret to their grave.
