An Interesting Question Asked About Successful Men on Here?

This got me questioning something. http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20090830155145AAZyjBK This was for women to answer but I felt I had to, yes some guys are simply shallow and pigs and want the stereotypical perfect woman. BUT why is it that only successful men are being considered? It bothers me (a 19 year old boy) that women are criticizing men for this, when they are the ones only considering/questioning successful men. A bit of a stereotype that the man needs to be successful? No? I have to wonder why, say a man who is a teacher, who is not making a ton of money but doing something good, is considered what... second rate? Simply because he is not making a large sum of money, hence not being considered "successful" as some men with a higher paying job, even though he is showing that he is hard working, yet some, SOME, women would never consider picking a... bank teller, or convenience store clerk, over the man they are serving who is making a larger sum of money, to be someone they would date etc. So I must ask, why is it such a double standard to question the stereotypes? lol Do women truly run the world? Is it alright for women to question it, but for men to bite their tongues when women are doing exactly that (looking only at successful men as 'head of the class') People asking that question want to know why successful men only choose the steriotypical woman. Well I'm asking, is it alright for women to question a stereotype, when they themselves can be one (though many men are as well). Why do women only want a successful man?

  1. Quoted from dave chapelle "Our tests in life are different. And by tests, i mean, those are the things we desire. A woman's test in life, is material. A man's test in life, is a woman. If a man could get laid in a cardboard box, he wouldn't need to buy a house." basically saying, power is attractive to women, the more power, the more attractive, and for men, power is their ticket to the bitches.
  2. I think they meant "successful" as in successful romantically. I didn't take it as someone who was successful professionally. Maybe I'm wrong, but in my opinion, women go after professionally successful men because they offer stability, constancy and the budget to pamper them occasionally. Personally, I'm not interested in a lot of money. I want a man who can support himself and is happy with what he does
  3. Since time began, women have looked for the best provider and mate to have children by. The same goes in the animal world, The old saying is, you can fall in love with a rich man just as well as you can a poor man. Not until war time did women go into the work force, and not until the seventies did they take a notion to work full time. Yes, there's a double standard. in more ways then one.
