How by me not choosing to go to college, is that showing that I have no inerest in my future?
I am sorry, but I am a very hard worker in society, I work 2 jobs that I do my very best in and I still go home every night and do things that are expected of me! College is not for everyone! I dont get why everyone thinks that the only successful people are the ones that go to college! I did horrible in High School so what is the point in spending 1000's of dollars to go to college when I know that I possibly won't succeed and will probably wind up dropping out!? I think that the way American society is built today is messed up! People have different choices, different lives, and I see no reason to criticize people for their decisions on how they plan their future! I guarantee that one of my jobs I have right now pays better and I have better benefits than some people that spent 10 years in college so please explain to me why it is considered "lazy" or that one has no interest in their future if they choose not to go to college!?

- In many ways you are right. Education is an investment of time and money that may or may not pay off. If you know you won't be totally committed to college, don't go.
- If you are happy with how things are going and how your prospects look for the future, than by all means don't go. Don't worry about what others think you should do. They are not the ones that would have to spend the money and time to go. With that said, it has been found that college graduates typically make hundreds of thousands of dollars more throughout their career than a high school graduate. In many career fields, you simply have no option but to go to school. And, in college you gain much more than grades and additional income.
- People go to sollege for a couple of reasons , one is they need it for advanced level of education, second, people at the country club got to have something to talk about. College is not for everyone, maybe a trade school or the military may be considered. I've got about 63 hours of college and i've had people working for me in constrruction with a master's degree as a labor.College is no guarantee you will get a good job, esp. with the NAFTA agreement with Mexico, since 1992 we've lost one millon manufacturing jobs to Mexico. Most of the really (make it rich) people do not have a college education, seems the more educated you are, the less risk you take and risk is what it takes to get to the top. Good Luck in your future!
- You shouldn't go to college just because it is expected of you. You'll never do well because you can't motivate yourself. College is best for students that are in it because they want to be there. I have seen so many students in school who don't want to be there, consequently they are doing poorly. What's worse is that they hurt their teammates during group projects, because they never strive to do well on the projects either. Some never even do their part, leaving their mates high & dry. If you enjoy your current jobs and a degree doesn't look like it's necessary, you can certainly be successful without one. I believe Bill Gates dropped out of college. However, do keep in mind that the future will always bring changes. It isn't surprising to hear of people being laid off for not having degrees, even if they have years of experience under their belt, because there are tons of people WITH degrees who also have years of experience under THEIR belt. I don't want to scare you, I just want to make sure you can see both sides of the issue. On the other hand, if at any time in the future you feel your job security is threatened, then college might be for you at that time. If your employer really likes you and values your work, they will probably pay for your tuition. In that case, you've got a free ride :) I wish you great success in your career, and I'm sure everything you decide will be in your best interest.
- Since your parents or loved ones want what they think is "best for you" thay think that it has to come with a college degree. Back in the 50's almost everyone had a blue collar job and no college degree, since the baby boom and the dot com world there are more white collar or desk jobs then blue collar. Because of this your parents and love ones want you to go to college so you can "compete" with everyone else going for a white collar job. People will say that people with a college dergee earn more then $100,000 in their lifetime then high school graduates. The funny thing is that they dont take into accout that the 4 years you went to college cost you at least $20,000 and that is with grants and scholorships. Then if you add the money you didnt make during the 4 years that you went to college, averaging $20,000 per year (which is low-income/min. wage) there is the $100,000. I didn't goto college and I don't think it is important as long as you are not planing to be a doctor or lawyer. Or some profession that actully requires specalized learning. I think that if you don't want a job in some corporation, or want to be in management....it is better to find a good, honest company that offers great benifits and actully respects you. Then put in years at that job, since any good employeer will give you regular raises. Hopefully, the people you love and who love you, will respect your decsion not to go to college. As for everyone else, just smile at the knowledge that you probably are better off with your job then a "starving college student", and will be more secure in your future. Remember that a college degree .... doesn't gaurantee. Have a great day....and Keep Smiling :)
