Success Happy

Why are people so cut-throat desperate to make it in NYC/LA/media when those industries are NOT all that?

They're not the highest paying, there are many billionaires and millionaires and successful people around the world, even in the country that have NOTHING to do with NYC/LA, and yet people flock there and the surrounding areas, flock malls, nordstroms/neimans, plastic surgeons, EVERYONE wants to be rich, skinny, and hot, everyone acts like "OMG ITS THE MOST F*CKING IMPORTANT THING EVER...to be hot, famous, rich, pretty, plastic," whatever. Newsflash: MANY of these industries pay SH(T, only the top dogs get much, which eventually gets split and divided anyways, they have bills to pay, many in those industries are NOT, I repeat, NOT very bright people, many are just kids who didn't know what to do with their lives, and went there, it's also FULL with drama, drugs, bs, sex, all sorts of corruption. so I ask again, WHYYYYY in God's name, are people SO obsessed with HOLLYWOOD, nyc, etc? When in all reality, ...it's really NOT that great of a ..field.

  1. tv makes it seem so glamorous.
  2. First off, not everyone flocks to what I assume you mean the entertainment industry. I think most of us would rather live our lives without that kind of exposure anyway. Some people will always gravitate to those venues, even back in the old days when it was considered low class. Some people have to have their lives filled with Drama, Drugs, BS and corruption, and I don't think even the majority of those seek out Hollywood or NYC. We all know the type and probably more than one. As for the field itself, it's not that bad if you have connections, it can be fun even if you are a mechanic or camera man behind the scenes. I mean getting paid to go to exotic locations and locales beats the hell out of showing up at the garage for another 9-5. And there is always the draw of having no talent yet becoming a NAME in Hollywood look at Tom Cruise. I think you are confusing peoples titillation with gossip about entertainment personalities with an actual desire to participate in that lifestyle. I believe that the majority of people aren't as shallow as you seem to think, it's just that those that are really tend to go out of their way to be noticed.
