Success Happy

When one is very successful in business, what is a good response for denying a small/big loan to friends/fam?

The only thing I could think of is telling them that any/all money that comes in has its proper place, such as bills, and a trust account and that it cant be pulled from where I put it...."?" Even if there is a lot of money sitting in the bank, I dont want to get in the middle of a 'friendly loan'. I have seen first hand, that many times people choose to not ever repay loans. I have figured, to never give out a loan. In the future, if there is someone who needs assistance, (and I choose to help) instead of them carrying on that debt, just give it to them, because if they dont pay you back, the two of you will carry a burden. So I just choose not to loan anymore. PS: As a youngster, I lent money out 4 times, ranging from $20-400. Not once was I ever repaid once in full....I guess they figured I forgot, or that I had money already, and that I wouldnt miss it or something. So now that I am an adult, and I am finally seing a great level of success from all of my hard earned work, I just want to have an excuse ready for in case this ever question ever comes flying at me from a really close friend/relative. What are some good excuses when they know you have money?

  1. I don't think you need an excuse. I think it is perfectly ok to say, that the money is tied up in the business and it is your feeling that making loans of such a personal nature always leads to bad feelings in the end. I have found my self in a similar situation whenever possibly, I will find some job that the person can do for a limited amount of time and pay them for working. So I have paid friends for cleaning my office or being the fetch-it for a couple of days or whatever, but generally something that would help me out in some way or I didn't have time to do.
