Success Happy

Does faith and a successful life go hand in hand?

Do you believe in god (have faith) and how successful are you in life ? Do you not have faith and how successful is your life ? What i want to achieve from this question is to find out how many people who have faith are successful in life and how many people who dont have faith are lost and unsuccessful in life and vice versa. :) I would define success in life as being on the right path in life doing positive things. Being at the top of what you do wether it be business sport etc. Ive seen alot of stories where people are lost in life and going down the wrong paths. They then put their life in the hands of faith and good things start to happen allowing them to become successful.

  1. it depends on the faith----
  2. It really depends by what means you measure success. If you mean monetary and material gains then I would have to say absolutely not, in fact I would dare say it is an impediment to faith. "And again I say to you: It is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of heaven" Mark 19:24 The people who suffer the most in the new and old testament tend to be people with the most faith, for their rewards are not found in the things of this world.
  3. I am successful by just about any measure, and I have no faith in any deity.
  4. Ask the people in Jones town. Oops sorry, they all died.
  5. success is purely in the eye of the beholder... I consider myself fairly successful, but the next person might look at me like a grub on the sidewalk. I think first you would have to define without a doubt what success is. Define the "right path doing good things" again this is a VERY subjective thing I can say that what I am doing is a good thing and you can say it is evil..
  6. Depends on what you define "success" to be.
  7. Dont think the two run parrallel. It all comes down to your ability to learn not asking God to help you ace exams etc. They only sense where I can see faith being a benefit is that it would put life in perspective a bit better, but really it depends on many outcomes such as childhood upbringing etc
  8. Bill Gates and Warren Buffet are the two most successful men in the world. Neither has faith. I'd say faith is not important in a successful life.
  9. No. Obama is successful, but anyone can see that he is not for God or even has much faith in God. Satan is capable of giving, too.
  10. No they don't go together. I do not have faith. I've been to France, the USA, Poland, Egypt, Canada, Mexico, the Maldives, Spain, England, etc. And I'm only thirteen! I have always had good grades without working (a 17,5/20 today in French, no studying needed), am naturally good at spelling, and live in a well-off family. So I'd say that for a thirteen-year-old my 'life' is pretty 'successful', yet I don't believe.
  11. If you mean prosperous then yes, God gave us a new covenant through the blood of Jesus. People who prosper through the Kingdom of God don't worry about tomorrow. People who prosper through the world's system are a slave to it.
  12. Statistically, people with faith and go to church live longer and are happier, which to me is a measure of success. If you're talking about money, greed is one of the deadly sins, and I suggest you stop being greedy and stop judging others with how much own and what they own.
  13. Well I was going to say something about definition, and then I read yours. I agree with you. Many people who are atheists can attain success, but for me, there would be something missing in my life.
  14. Paul was very successful in His life in this world, Circumcised the eighth day, of the stock of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, an Hebrew of the Hebrews; as touching the law, a Pharisee; Concerning zeal, persecuting the church; touching the righteousness which is in the law, blameless. He was very gifted and rising to be one of the leaders in his nation and probably was a member of the Sanhedrin and had the best possible training and credentials, besides being highly moral and a man of integrity. Was that success? Does that not fit your definition? Yet he counted it all but dung for Christ. But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ. Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ. Further when he learnt that God's grace was sufficient for him in his trials and that God's power was perfected in weakness, he declared, Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong. Is that success? Which would you prefer?
  15. Psalm 1 describes the success and successful person. Whoever follows God will be successful. But that does not mean those who are non believers can not be successful. The salvation has nothing to do with success. Success comes from blessing. But successful is not always blessed.
  16. It depends on the person. there are people who are out there that believe that being successful is having a good life, a good job, a home, being kind to others and good health. some on the other hand will have all that and still is not satisfied. taking the right path in life is always the right way to go but some will go to church daily and they are far more evil than the none goers. nothing is better than doing the right thing and going the right way.
  17. The only thing I have ever had any real faith in is myself. I gave up on God as a teen, when I discovered a secret thing called evolution (I had never even heard the word in the devoutly religious world in which I grew up). I have achieved absolutely everything I ever wanted to achieve in life. I have absolutely everything I need and want. And then some. Is that success? So faith yes, but in God, no.
  18. Not necessarily. Sometimes if you dont have succes but you have faith it is almost definatly God testing you to see how you cope in suituations (i.e. you dont simply say "my life SUCKSS where are god??? your not reallll...." etc) or punishing you for bad deeds you have done earlier in your life so as to ease the punishment in the afterlife. When something bad happens i take it as a good thing that at least im being punished on earth and not on earth. This being said I see myself as successful (or going to be as im still in my teens). I have food, i have amazing friends and family and a roof over my head. im doing well at school and i have a brain. what more could i want? So the answer is: yes i have faith and consider myself to be succesful and content with my life. :)
  19. certainly not...Jesus died a horrible death by his contemporaries...he said a slave is not greater than his master....and if the world hates me it will hate you also...
