How can anyone be a true athiest?
There is no true atheist from the sheer fact that culture cannot exist without religion. As far back as early man, religion and culture existed together. Religion develops the rules of the community and culture supports those rules to encourage a successful life for those participating. This has always been in man’s character from the beginning. This is why man has survived all these years. Claiming to be an atheist is refusing to accept themselves for what they are. God exists because he is necessary for man to survive.

- fail.
- signed, Sweden and Japan...
- Religion may have been necessary in the past. That doesn't mean it continues to be necessary. It may now be necessary that we outgrow it.
- Correct, there aren't any atheists, just wannabes.
- Check out most of Asia and its non-theistic religions.
- "There is no true atheist from the sheer fact that culture cannot exist without religion." Oh you get an EPIC FAIL on that load of malarkey! Honestly your post is so full of BS that it's hard to know where to start correcting you. On second thought, I won't bother. Clearly, you wouldn't understand the correction anyway...
- I disagree. For millions of years, human beings lived on the Earth but did not leave any sort of sophisticated, legible communication behind to indicate how they thought or what they believed. There may have been a million years that past where humans lived without religion and, really had no sort of formal culture to speak of.
- My country got a 3000 year of history, and without a religion.. 95% of my ppl are atheists. You just are too fool (just as other people who follow a religion) to look around and open for a new thinking.. Poor you guys :(
- Your conclusions are weak....governments determine the rules of the community and the government is the will of the people.......in most cases
- I recognise the signs of a higher mind. Your position is very clear. Surely it only appears that you are completely deluded and denying reality.
- I hope you didn't hurt yourself thinking through all that and coming to to such a ludicrous conclusion. BTW, do you believe in Santa Claus?
- Wow, your logic is really bad. Let me first point out that you went from the very general term "religion" and ended on the specific "God." Why did you choose your god and not consider other gods? Many of them have been around much longer. As for the "culture cannot exist without religion" comment, again you are way off. There are many cultures that are flourishing that aren't religious. You really should take a look at history and modern times. Don't get your information from your pastor. Do a simple Google search. Religion holds people back overall. Sure there are successful religious folk but if you look at how religion interacts with the world and progression, you will easily see how much we have been held back. Just look at the stupid debate over evolution. Scientists don't debate that evolution has happened. They debate on how it happened. Religion is what's holding them back as they have to contend with stupid laws being passed to treat Christian Creationism (and it's only Christian Creationism) on equal footing with Evolution.
- Prospero: That cross you wear around your neck; is it only a decoration, or are you a true Christian believer? Francesca: Yes, I believe - truly. Prospero: Then I want you to remove it at once! And never to wear it within this castle again! Do you know how a falcon is trained my dear? Her eyes are sown shut. Blinded temporarily she suffers the whims of her God patiently, until her will is submerged and she learns to serve - as your God taught and blinded you with crosses. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Francesca: You had me take off my cross because it offended... Prospero: It offended no one. No - it simply appears to me to be discourteous to... to wear the symbol of a deity long dead. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Prospero: My ancestors tried to find it. And to open the door that separates us from our Creator. Francesca: But you need no doors to find God. If you believe... Prospero: Believe? If you believe you are gullible. Can you look around this world and believe in the goodness of a god who rules it? Famine, Pestilence, War, Disease and Death! They rule this world. Francesca: There is also love and life and hope. Prospero: Very little hope I assure you. No. If a god of love and life ever did exist... he is long since dead. Someone... something, rules in his place.
- Your first sentence is like saying that there is no true religionist because everyone knows that religion is nothing more than a crutch of the masses that could not possibly be true. You then go on to make up stuff about what religion does, showing only that you are guessing and do not know.
