  1. This position seems like a joke. The description is completely off-base, as the degrees/certifications that it requires are vastly dissimilar. I'm guessing that the position is for a small no-name bank with a shoddy reputation, as any reputable bank has a structured and relatively fixed career path. The traditional path is: Undergrad degree --> Analyst --> MBA --> Associate --> VP -->MD Sometimes the analyst will be directly promoted to Associate without an MBA. Sometimes the JD might be substituted for an MBA, but only in exceptional circumstances and only when the candidate has relevant work experience. The CPA and CFA are never required in banking, and any bank that requires one is probably a second-rate bank that grocery-lists any type of qualification, hoping to cast a wide net upon the pool of candidates. Nonetheless, it sounds as if the bank from which you pulled this description is looking for an associate, not an analyst; thus, you probably don't qualify. To answer your question about general requirements for banking: 3.5+ GPA Very prestigious undergrad university OR strong connections relevant work experience is a plus, but not required
