How do you find out how happy your pokemon are in heartgold?

I want to evolve my Evee into Espeon but I don't how happy my Evee is. How do I find out and how happy does it need to be in order to evolve?

1. You cant really, but talking to it usually works or if you talk to the lady in golden rod city. Its a house in the right side of the town
2. Well one way to make sure is by going to this house in goldenrod city which is right of the gym theres this house, talk to the girl there and she'll tell u, if it isn't happy then you can go to pallet town, between 1-2pm and talk to daisy to give your eevee a massage which makes it happier.
3. Hunter's wrong. It's 3-4 PM. If it has an item, and gives it to you, its getting friendly. If there are hearts above it, its really close to max freindship.
