I am considering, starting a business website. Has anyone tried this and been successful?

If anyone has done this before, I would appreciate your advise. I have a website and have blogs from other affiliates etc. Everytime someone enters my website and clicks on a ad, do I make money?? I am very new to this and could use the pros and cons of this type of business. What is the most cost effective way of doing this?? Appreciate your help, I would like to be successful.

1. You could have given ur site link here to see. Anyhow I dont have what ads you put, but clicking on google ads and ads of that kind will bring you money. Check out my blog once you will get more ideas.
2. First you should check out http://www.firstinforeview.com they tell you everything you have to do to start a profitable internet business. And they do not charge you for the information. Also make sure you sign up for the program at the bottom of the page they can get you #1 placement for 5 keywords in google, yahoo and 38 more search engines. 3. I have built a business online through my website. I would suggest that you take a look at several web hosts. There are a few that will assist you in designing a website around your interests. As you search I would strongly suggest that you compare feature by feature then dollar for dollar. This will ensure that you find a web host with features that suit your needs and at a price that you can afford. I did just that and have no regrets with the one I chose. BEST WISHES!
