Life after Big 4 accounting firm?
I am looking for information and ideas about regarding my options after working at a big four acctg firm. I am 24 years old, have both a masters and an undergraduate degree in acctg and two years work experience (still working there now now). I'm hoping to take my knowledge and experience and apply to another spectrum in the business world outside of accounting. Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I'm looking for a better work life balance and maybe something a little more interesting.

- I work for a financial services firm, and we've seen several people join our firm from big 4 accounting firms. You might also consider: -- corporations / finance team -- financial consulting -- private accounting firms -- insurance The latter two are mostly like to be 9am-5pm type jobs. Good luck!!
- Well if you have passed your exams and you have all your hours then you can easily find a financial reporting job in industry. If you have not qualified or passed your exams you could try consulting. However I recommend you first and foremost talk to a head hunter. You have learned a lot of transferable skills, which is a big plus. But it all comes down to what makes you happy. I guess you have to decide if you want to aim at earning potential or job satisfaction. You can find both but having one as the foundation will lend clarity to the search. If you like the industries you have spent time auditing then try to reach some of the clients competitors. Or you could apply to some of the clients you have worked on as long as the 12 month period has expired to avoid any independence issues. All I can tell you is the grass is sometimes greener on the other side, not always the case though. You could try the public sector especially if you want work life balance. Those are my thoughts, good luck and remember there is more to life than work ;)
