How to remain happy without depending upon external sources?
You know like watching TV, eating, drinking and surfing through computer. Is there anyother way of making myself happy without, using these diminishing sources.

- set a goal and reach it. don't rely on happiness with people and objects, otherwise, happiness will never be acheived.
- Well, yoga is a really good way of attaining peace and happiness, but i guess that is sort of an external source. Just sit in a corner of a room alone, at night near the window and think of all the good times you have had, it will make you happy, remember all the people that were a part of your life, it will bring a smile on your face. But you can also gain happiness by telling your mind that you are happy as you are, you don't need any worldly possession. This type of thing works, it is self- counselling. I know, it sound boring!~
- Reading, Going for walks, Perhaps playing a game with your family Or Maybe playing and walking a pet can be enjoyable if you have a good bond with the animal. Doing puzzles or more academic activities for example Chess. Taking up a hobby like Photography or Art
- Prayer!!! And Self Improvement!!! Achievements achieved without the help of others and with sincere dedication and hard work are the best of achievements!! Accompaniment of a good friends will help you feel happy
- I relate to your question as it was my reason for becoming a hermit - I haven't watched TV for over 33 years. I think that you have to make it an objective to be content with what is and practise acceptance and compassion - The capacity for love is key and realising that happiness depends upon separating our your love from any sense of due returns just being happy because you can enjoy your self and how you come - I find my mind a constant source of amazement - I dont take it too seriously and it amuses me what I find myself thinking - The trick is to be enough to the self dabbling in a creative art form help too as it gives you that little bit of distance from being so you can have meta awareness viewing yourself from an alternative angle. I do read and watch films adn listen to music there are still some classics I haven't plundered and many I use over and over and still get something more out of them
- Focus. It's like internal meditation. You can have nothing in the world and everything at the same time when you :focus: internally, on what matters most to you..
- stop beating yourself up.. give up guilt.. do what you do .. and do what you should like exercise to keep healthy. be happy... :-)
- Hello Ben... Learning and developing your knowledge can contribute to your having more happiness; and also to your making better grades. There are many ways to do this beyond school. Exercise an be good for you physically, emotionally, and mentally. I jog, play tennis, play basketball, and go for long walks. Doing something to help others can be rewarding and bring a very special inner happiness. You might volunteer to do some work with people or animals needing help.
