http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-10833190 Men have so far been the hardest hit by the recession. Did we see any complaining about this? This is literally one of the most ridiculous articles I've ever read, particularly since no one ever seems to complain about "initiatives" to give female students extra resources or to have specific "minister for women" posts and so on... Guess what? If you want equality in terms of work, you have to take the good AND the bad parts. One of the bad things is that if there are more women working in the public sector, then cuts across the board will effect "women in general" more than they otherwise would. How much special treatment do these people want? Whenever something effects men disproportionally all we get is "it's your turn now..." "The group said public sector cuts would hit women particularly hard since 65% of such workers were women." Do you have a statistic for how many men vs. how many women have been laid off in the recession? Don't see anyone complaining about that (in fact I've seen a LOT of articles saying "finally testosterone will no longer prevail in business now that so many male managers have been fired) ""In times of economic crisis it becomes more not less important to consider women's basic rights, and observe the laws put there to safeguard them." When will we get laws to safefguard men? Hmmm? "...makes it harder for women to choose how to balance work and family life." No one ever seems to complain when it's men who are being expected to work ridiculous hours to be in the "supporter" role which they may not even want...
