  1. With so many people selling, competition is tough. The days of big money are probably over. You'll be lucky to get 10 cents on the dollar retail what you spent. Shoes, clothing is really low price. You'll make the money on high end stuff, the bike maybe, furniture...yeah these can bring in a more money. Go around to other sales first to see what the prices are and then decide if the income is worth the hassle. Remember the best items to early so don't shop in the afternoons, be an early bird. Getting people there? Advertise in the classifieds, be clear what you have and the times/address.
  2. Well to be honest you should first organize things by things that's related to it. now when you price everythingyou should add 2 dollars more then how much you paid for it. so for example you go to the mall and by a I love paris shirt for 5 dollars you charge 7 dollars if you paid 7 50 or 70 60 just add 2 dollars 9 50 or 9 60
  3. if you want to get rid of it sell it and price it at 20% of cost or send it back to storage,
  4. Place an ad in the paper, and make fliers, and post them in grocery stores, laundromats, convenience stores, and other places that has a bulletin board. You can also place an ad on the radio on their want ad program if they have one. Placing an ad on the want ad program on the radio should be free of charge.
  5. OK, here are some tips from me, a girl who has had tons of experience with selling and buying from garage sales: - Better to have garage sale on Saturday, most people have the day off. - Post signs on bright paper the day before so people can see where the garage sale is and plan on it (include the address, date, time, etc.) - Price stuff really really cheap because that is what people expect (clothes: $1 each, books: $0.25-$1.00) - Leave room for customers to negotiate or barter, but not too low (if something was originally $10, if the person wants to go down to $7, let them. But don't let them negotiate half price, that's too much.) - Be polite, smile, say hello when someone stops by and say thank you when someone buys something. - Don't hover over people, let them take their time. - Start out with about $30 in the beginning for change. A lot of people just have $20 bills (because of the bank) and it's important to have change handy. - Have bags ready and ask customers if they need one to hold their purchases. - Start to pack up stuff in the afternoon, maybe 2-3:00 but if there are people still coming by, tell them that they can still look at the stuff that you haven't packed up yet. - Have FUN!!! ~RasberryHat
