being a real estate agent? what is it like? how hard is it to get into right after you get your license?

also do you need a degree AND your license to be successful in real estate?

  1. You should talk to some local real estate agents in your area for the answer to those questions. The market varies in every area, but generally it is more difficult to get clients when you first start in the business. The rule of thumb is that it usually takes a couple years to get a real estate career going. That means the first couple years will be the lean years and you'll need money or a loved one who will support you during that time if you choose to pursue it full-time. You can do it part-time while you have another job to support you financially, but it's better to work full-time and see if you want to tough it out. Also, this is a good time to learn because it isn't busy, but it's not a good time to get in if you're just trying to make a quick buck. That time has passed. It's nice to have a degree, but not necessary in the state of California.
