Would architecture be a successful career to look at in Canada?

I'm really interested in this field, and I'm pretty sure I could accomplish this after high school, but would it provide me with enough salary for basic things (food, shelter etc...), and would it be worth it? I heard people saying you cannot make a decent amount of profit from it, and you only get paid when a building is made
