What is a guy's reaction to a girl wishing him a happy birthday?

I wished a guy I like a happy birthday because I wanted to (I don't normally talk to him). He smiled and laughed happily after saying thank you. (Note: I have a feeling he likes me too and we have had awkward moments). This might be over analyzing, but would his reaction indicate he has feelings or do guys normally react this way to a girl wishing him a happy birthday?
