If I may link both your questions here. I take it the question relates to your boyfriend's job, the possibility of a new (probably 'down-shifted') career for him and the strain on your relationship? If so, I think we have three fronts to fight on... (1) Present Job: I'm presuming your boyfriend is a young man. 6 years at two top consultancies is a good position to change job anyway. While he's there, he be wise to 'work smarter, not longer!' I know such cultures expect a degree of 'presenteeism', but it shouldn't be excessive. I advise him to learn to use his computer more efficiently. To use the Accessories aps and email calendar as a PIM, to-do list and diary. Also not waste time calling everybody, but use email & text more. These alone will shave off much time in his working day. (2) New Career: I strongly suggest the Myers-Briggs Test to evaluate his job attitudes, aptitudes & preferences. Could he turn a hobby into income? Join with you, a DNA scientist?
