Are marriage records stored at the county that you live in - is that a must or can they be stored anywhere?

If so, where? Whats the place called that you go to read about a persons public marriage record.

Public Comments

  1. its stored where u live in
  2. Stored at the county married in. They don't move the records around just because a person moved residence. A person can be married in a county in a state. Then move to a different state. They don't keep track of where a person lives and ship the records.
  3. It varies; Mrs S and I were married in Grand Rapids, and our marriage was recorded with the city and the records stored there. If we had married in another church two blocks over, in Walker, then it would have been registered with Kent County, and they would have the records.
  4. No they're stored in the county that you got your marriage license in. It's usually at the county clerks office, or court house. It really all depends on where they got married and where they filed for their license from. Why are you creeping on someone else's marriage record you do know that's a bit insane right? If it's not your marriage license you're looking for forget about it and move on with life.
