Getting up is next to impossible?

Waking up in the morning at any time prior to say, 10:00 or 9:30 AM is excruciatingly painful. Even though I always manage to get myself out of bed, I feel horrible until about noon which has a strong effect on how I work during the day. Breakfast is even worse -- I never feel like eating, and though I almost always can force myself to eat the meal is rarely more than a tiny piece of toast. This leads to mild nausea and I actually feel better when I don't have breakfast, although this obviously saps my energy. "Experts" tell you that no one at my age needs more than 8.5 hours of sleep a night and getting up early should never be a problem if you get this amount of sleep. I have never found this to be more than a lie. 8.5 hours between 2:00 in the morning and 10:30 is all the sleep I ever need; between 10:00 PM and 6:30 AM waking up is almost a living hell. I've made many different efforts, going to bed at first 9, then 8, and even 7 PM, but the improvements have been either minimal or none. My sleep is fine, I exercise and eat well, and my life is balanced, but for this. No matter how much sleep I get, my body refuses to willingly get up before 9 or 10 o'clock. This has been a problem for years, at least as long as I can remember, and I am sick of it. What can I do?

  1. Have you gone to the doctor about this? Recently I went to the doctors for problems very similar to yours. They seemed to thought it was hypothyroidism, which can most of the time be cured by just taking a little pill every day. So they ran a battery of blood tests to see what it was. Haven't got the results back yet but we'll see. I would recommend doing the same thing.
