What are the most important traits to have to be a successful president?

Please list the 5 most important traits of a successful president. Please don't list policies, that isn't my question. The public gets caught up in which candidate they believe is telling the truth, what their gender/race is, the platforms they present, etc. What are the traits they should have going into office? While rhetoric and debate is a necessary part of a nomination process, th public should take more time to also consider what traits they SHOULD be looking for in a candidate.

  1. A Vocabulary higher than a secon grader. Love for his own country. In touch with real American working class citizens. A person who will not lie about the war and the ecomomy. Honesty.
  2. The ability to connect with the people. The ability to bring both sides together to actually get things done. Someone who has a broad view of the world. Someone that wasn't born with the silver spoon in their mouth so they know what it is like to struggle. Someone who is genuinely passionate at what they do.
  3. ok i think knowledge, bc u cant let a stupid person decide things for our country. some charisma and charm, should be able to connect with americans. he should help out with community service stuff a little. he needs to be honest. get people who dont like him to like him at least a little.
  4. To get people to FOLLOW YOU Like Obama Barack Obama is my 1st choice for President. On top of his amazing ability to bring people together, and a sharp mind and fantastic ability to make correct decisions the first time, here is a testament to his experience: During the first (8) eight years of Obama's elected service he sponsored over 820 bills. He introduced: 233 regarding health care reform, 125 on poverty and public assistance, 112 crime fighting bills, 97 economic bills, 60 human rights and anti-discrimination bills, 21 ethics reform bills, 6 veteran’s affairs and many others. His first year in the U.S. Senate, he authored 152 bills and co-sponsored another 427. These include: **the Coburn-Obama Government Transparency Act of 2006 (became law) **The Lugar-Obama Nuclear Non-proliferation and Conventional Weapons Threat Reduction Act(became law) **The Comprehensive Immigration Reform Act(passed the Senate) **The 2007 Government Ethics Bill(became law) **The Protection Against Excessive Executive Compensation Bill(In committee), and many more. Since entering the U.S. Senate, Senator Obama has written 890 bills and co-sponsored another 1096. An impressive record, for someone who supposedly has no experience. I'd say that's damn impressive for the Jr. Senator from Illinois.
  5. Integrity Intelligence Honor Loyalty Courage
  6. intelligence, good personality, ability to unite the country that calls itself "united" states and the perseverance to get the job done All of which Obama has. VOTE OBAMA
  7. 1. Honest, honorable, ethical, their word is their bond. 2. Christian and an example of it. 3. Military background 4. Leadership skills and knowledgeable. 5. Great speaker They can't make great changes to the economy. This is in the hands of the American people. I will not vote for a Pro-Choice abortion nominee. I will not vote for a candidate who would allow homosexual marriage.
  8. 1. brains 2. brawn 3. honesty and integrity 4. an ability to bring people together to accomplish a common goal 5. vision obama possesses all of the above and that's why he'll make a great president.
  9. Judgment- The President of the United States is the most powerful person in all the world, and must wield this power wisely and carefully. Examples of good judgment- Washington Examples of poor judgment- GW Bush, LBJ Charisma- A president must be able to inspire people and, more importantly, convince Congress to pass their legislation and make a good impression on foreign powers. Examples of a charismatic president: FDR, Reagan Examples of an uncharismatic; Van Buren, Andrew Johnson Vision- A great president has a broad vision for making America and the world a better place. Examples of visionary presidents: Jefferson, JFK Example of a president with poor vision: Buchanan Integrity- Cronyism and corruption have marred or destroyed many a president who would otherwise have had a neutral, or, even, in the case of Nixon, a positive legacy. A president has to surround themselves with people of great ability, not just yes-men. Presidents of strong morality- Eisenhower, Teddy Roosevelt Presidents of weak morality- Grant, Harding Courage- No president can govern without facing trouble or opposition, and any leader without courage becomes a mere weathervane, turning in the wind. A strong president sticks to what is right, even when it's hard. Example of a courageous president: Lincoln Example of a cowardly leader: Louis XVI
