What traits does Bill Gates have that make him so successful?

It's known that Bill Gates is really smart, but that can't be enough. There are plenty of smart people in the world, and they aren't all near Gates level of wealth and power, or even rich, for that matter. What is it about him?

5. His hair is definitely an asset. I think it's his confidence, and the fact that he knows he can accomplish great things, therefore, isn't afraid to try them.

8. He's not that smart. He's a dropout. But he is an opportunist - he's actually made a lot of money by copying other people's ideas. Look at the history of Microsoft and Apple. i think it's the same for anyone - recognising and acting on opportunity is a major part of the game.

10. several years ago, there was an interview with someone that spent a weekend at his family home, when gates was a kid. she reported that when there was something to be done, that involved several people, it was always a competition. there was always a winner, and a reward. AND a loser, and a price to be paid. that makes for a competitive personality. from edith, "He's not that smart. He's a dropout." didn't Einstein drop out at one time? some people drop out because they can't do it. others drop out because it's not a good use of their time. i don't think i'd be looking for some excuse to put him down. because everyone around will know that the real problem is you, not him.

In addition to being smart, aggressive and becoming a very good businessman, Bill Gates was in the right place with the right idea at the right time, perhaps more so than any person in recent business history. Much of his success is talent, but part of it is luck. The important thing is that he saw the opportunity, and had what it takes to maximize it. He has also been able to make the right decisions consistently for many years- something few business managers are able to do.
12. Well his mother worked at a bank so he could borrow $50,000 to buy a working operating from a small company Seattle software for the PC and told IBM that he had a working operating system even before he had anything.... is he smart or just a bluffer that the bluff paid off big time....

14. Bill Gates greatest trait is that he is a wildlife expert and spends many an hour saving little animals in witch nature has returned the favor by building him computers and letting him make the world a wounderful place.
15. I like Bill Gates, he's likable to me for many reasons which also make him successful. He saw an opportunity, early in life while working for IBM to keep control of his own intellectual property, but , he learned a lot about business by fighting and winning the rights to his own intellectual property. He just wouldn't sell out himself for greed or let others buy him out for greed either, he's a fair man and i think the structure of his creation reflects the help of others in the company structure by adding their names to the billionaires rollcall. Ob1 I really love the way he made the world round on a computer screen , it looked like steps more than a circle before that. yeah he really brought the globe together graphiccally speaking.
