What are the traits necessary for a Service Dog?
I own a GSD - she is currently 9 mo's old and is trained for control on and off lead for all of her obedience commands. I want to begin training her for service work. She is high drive, has incredible focus and tenacity, I want to know what traits are usually looked for in a dog that will probably be successful as a service dog.

- a drive to work, obedience, not easily distracted, not obsessed and begging for food, etc. needs to have manners i have a service dog in the family. he is my sisters so if you have more questions email me!
- Training for a service dog usually starts when the dog is 3 months old. They have to pay attention to the handler only, have a strong work drive. listen quickly, not show any aggression even in play (no growling), walk well on a leash, travel well, not want to go up to strangers for attention or randomly pick things up off the ground...find a training service around you that trains service dogs and see if they will run her through a quick test to see is she is read or able to do it
