Success Happy

What strategies do you use to achieve work/life balance?

Besides having fallen prey to the quirmire of losing my soul to the creative industry (which is a complete issue for discussion on it's own), I have lost most of my personal time and social life. What do you do at work to make the working life livable?

  1. Good question . I dont have the answer .
  2. Try to detect the values that motivate you at work. Is it recognition or power or sense of achievement etc? At home or socially, find something that gives you the same values. Another approach is to know how you rank your values. So if security is very high on your list and adventure is very low, chances are that you will prefer reading a book vs going sky-diving. Study each values and see if you can re-arrange some of them. Just by rearranging, you will shift your focus or find happiness in new areas of your life. For example, I rank health to be my no 1 value now. Career becomes 2nd. Used to be the other way round. Well , what good if I earn tons of money but can't spend them if I am ill?
  3. Can you find a better job? The older you get, the more discouraged you'll be that you'd be able to find a better job, and you probably wouldn't be as welcome to change either. Life is too short. It's too short to be unhappy. Good Luck on finding your life back.
  4. no matter how horrible you're job might be or how you feel there is always a way to have a better time/life just find something anything that makes you happy, even if it's having the ability to laugh about how stupid some things in life are, hey it's helped me everyday lol kind of sarcastic but it's like that saying if you take life too seriously you'll never get out alive, very true, focus on what's positive in your life, i've also learned that if there isn't anything positive happening that day, pretend to have a good day anyway, but going back on topic i've learned that in order to have a work life balance you need to have SOME time to have a life outside of work (to me, that would mean working tops a 50 or 60 hr work week or less) anything more and your life is dedicated to just work, so use that time outside of work (whatever time it may be) and do something anything that you like to do (hobbies, being w friends, church, ANYTHING). okay now im just running off topic but the object is to just be creative, however you can figure in personal time, just do it, even if it means grabbing a planner and planning it out, some people just have to do that but remember above all to stay spontaneous or everything will be boring! hope I helped sry a little long!
