Do the high points and low points in life balance out in the end?

Or is life predominantly a positive or negative experience? I realize this is opinion, just looking for thoughts.

  1. In the end it will only be a question of what you have done.
  2. it all boils down to you and what you have learned from both the positive and negative things that has/have happened to you. if you choose to do good, even though you were wronged, then you are on a path of learning, stepping forward instead of backward. doing the opposite is a setback. everything occuring is for a reason, what you do with that is up to you.
  3. I think that some people, toward the end of their life, do gain a perspective that allows them some peace. (i'm not sure that this addresses your question. for some reason i am thinking of a poem by Edgar Lee Masters-- The poem i was thinking of is "Lucinda Matlock," from the Spoon River anthology. "What is this I hear of sorrow and weariness, .............................................. It takes life to love Life."
  4. They say that in the end, you only remember the good things. I think that this is true. Most people learn to forgive and forget. There is always going to be conflict in life, you just have to learn to look for the good and appreciate it. Sheryl Crow says it best "It's not getting what you want, it wanting what you got." Try to see the positive in everything, as well as be a good person and life will be good.
  5. I think that the low points make actually benefit each of us more.
  6. Yes,there is always an equal and opposite reaction
  7. Hi, Do the goals scored by and against a team balance out? Or do they tilt to either side? The answer obviously lies in how well the team played during the season. There is no such rule that the highs and the lows will balance each other out. In fact, thats just an excuse created by those who are incapable of changing there present position. People say its fate, it is pre-destined, I cannot change it. But people need to realise that it is they themselves who should be in control of their lives. They should be the maker of their own destiny. If some1 works really hard, then (s)he tilts the scale more towards the positive side, if not, then vice-versa...
  8. depends on how one looks at it. however you can make life a more positive experience by knowing more about yourself -- likings, dislikings, your priorities etc -- and trying to "adjust" your life to maximize your time towards your likings and priorities. an unexamined life is not worth living says socrates
